Mayor Benjamin Magalong ratified city council resolution no. 54, series of 2024, expressing the city’s “deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences” to the bereaved family of the late Dr. Robert M. Ganzon of the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center’s Department of Surgery, and recognizing his work and contributions in the field of surgery.
Authored by councilor Jose Molintas, the measure stated that Ganzon was known for his passion for the art and science of surgery, rendering his services to the community and dedication to the training program.
Known as ‘Bobby Ganz’ to his friends and colleagues and ‘Boss Ganz’ to his mentees, Ganzon was “a loving family man who took pride and joy in going to the market regularly and doing laundry, among others. He instilled in his children the significance of having close family ties, as well as, love and respect for family and others,” it added.
The resolution said Ganzon’s colleagues and mentees would affirm that they observed in him not only the knowledge and technical know-how in the field of surgery but also the sincerity in his service provision.
“He was a very meticulous surgeon with patient safety as his topmost priority and the ‘go-to surgeon’ of hospital employees for his untiring support and prompt surgical care and the ‘go-to mentor’ for individuals, especially surgical residents, who needed enlightenment and life lessons,” the resolution stated.**Gaby B.
