BAGUIO CITY — The Department of Trade and Industry in the Cordillera Administrative Region (DTI-CAR) will hold another “Diskwento Caravan” on May 1-7 to provide the public basic commodities at discounted prices.
“We have initiated and talked with our corporate social responsibility (CSR)-oriented supermarkets in Baguio to offer discounted prices from May 1 to 7,” DTI-CAR director, Myrna Pablo, said on Friday.
The “Diskwento Caravan” has been a regular activity of the DTI and is done before the Christmas holidays and the opening of the school year to benefit local consumers.
Pablo said among the participating establishments are the Abanao Square, Triple A grocery, Sunshine Supermart, Tiong San Harrison, Tiong San La Trinidad, Porta Vaga Mall, SM Supermart, and Savemore.
She said these are big establishments offering quality major and basic commodities in bulk or on retail.
Discounted items include basic and prime commodities, such as garments and school supplies.
Pablo said they have requested the establishments to display the original and discounted prices, allowing the buyers to see how much savings they are getting for a particular item.
She said offering products at discounted prices will help consumers, especially with the upcoming opening of the school year.
Compared to the usual activity wherein products are brought to a single location, Pablo said the “Diskwento Caravan” will be an “in-store” event.
“This caravan will not be on the usual open ground that we usually do. This time it will be ‘in store’, which means this would be in their establishments,” she said.** Janice Dio-as /PNA
