HIGH-VALUE DRUG PERSONALITY ARRESTED; OVER P1.9M WORTH OF ILLEGAL DRUGS SEIZED
As a result of the intensified anti-illegal drugs operations of PRO Cordillera, a high value drug personality was arrested and a total of Php1,958,220.00 worth of illegal drugs were seized in various operations conducted in Abra, Benguet, and Kalinga on April 16, 2024.
Based on the reports submitted to the PRO Cordillera Regional Director, PBGEN DAVID K PEREDO, JR, a 45-year-old male drug personality listed as a High Value Individual was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted in Sitio South, Brgy Calaba, Bangued, Abra after he sold one sachet of suspected shabu weighing more or less (MOL) 1.12 grams with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of Php7,616.00 to an operative who acted as a poseur buyer.
In the course of his arrest, another two sachets of suspected shabu weighing MOL 3.03 grams with an SDP of Php20,604.00 were recovered from his possession.
The arrested suspect and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Abra PPO Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit for proper documentation and disposition while charges for violation of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being filed against the suspect.
On the same day, from the marijuana eradication operations conducted, 650 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants (FGMJP) with an SDP of Php130,000.00 were discovered in Brgy Kayapa, Bakun, Benguet, while 9,000 pieces of FGMJP with an SDP of Php1,800,000.00 were discovered in Brgy Locong, Tinglayan, Kalinga.
The discovered marijuana plants were uprooted and burned onsite after proper documentation while samples were taken and submitted to the Regional Forensic Unit-Cordillera. Further, an ongoing investigation is being conducted to identify possible marijuana cultivators.
The Police Regional Office Cordillera congratulated 60 police officers of PNCO Class 02-037-RCOR-2023-020 who just completed their Intelligence Basic Course (IBC) on April 18, 2024.
The graduates received their certificate of completion during the closing ceremony held at the PRO Cordillera Log Cabin, Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet.
The program was graced by the PRO Cordillera Regional Director, PBGEN DAVID K PEREDO, JR., who served as the guest of honor and speaker, and was attended by the Chief of the Chief of the Regional Learning and Doctrine Development Division, PCOL CHARLES L DOMALLIG, the Officer-in-Charge of the Intelligence Training Group, PCOL VERONICA T AGUSTIN, the Acting Training Manager of the Regional Special Training Unit, PLTCOL ARNOLD C DUGAS, and the Officer-in-Charge of the Regional Intelligence Unit, PLTCOL NIXON L LAOYAN.
Highlighting the ceremony, the top three police officers of the said class received the Award of Excellence for their outstanding performance during their course namely:
1. PSMS Lito A Ayawan ( 89.81%)
2. PCpl Kaye B Tarnate ( 89.53% )
3. PMSg Joharah D Doligas (89.25%)
In his message, PBGEN PEREDO JR, congratulated the graduates and challenged them to use their newly learned knowledge and skills to provide the best services to the public. He emphasized that finishing the training marks a substantial stride in the professional growth of the graduates and underscores PRO Cordillera’s steadfast dedication to embracing advanced law enforcement methodologies.
The IBC is designed to equip PNP personnel with the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values for conducting intelligence and counter-intelligence operations, integrating cutting-edge methodologies, practical expertise, and a strong ethical foundation to navigate the dynamic landscape of law enforcement intelligence effectively.
