With the misogynistic curses of Larry Gadon against Ms. Robles, a lady journalist, his disbarment that came to pass the other day was expected. It was wise of the First Couple to have requested him to tone down such curses against those who were opposing the President during the campaign. Their concern was it might have been alienating more voters instead of attracting those who were still undecided. Indeed, it was wise of them.
What was not wise was the President’s not having immediately recalled him as one of his advisers. With the way he had been cursing people, especially women, he must be doing a lot of harm to the President. While his maintenance as an adviser might be an unmistakable show of loyalty to a supporter, that might be also showing what kind of a leader the President is.
The President is not an ordinary person. He is the one who should be taking care of what is good for the majority of the people. What is good for the country? To maintain civility in public discourse, that’s what! Allowing gutter language among his advisers is tantamount to not caring for the public good.
But let us give the President time. For all we know, he just might be biding his time so as not to appear he did not care for the support of people. As a politician he certainly cares about that. So let us wait for a while. He just might be waiting for the right time to let go of Larry Gadon.
As of now the President can still say that Larry Gadon can still be an effective Anti-poverty Czar. But when there will be more voices calling for him to fire Gadon, he just might do it.
After all, the President for sure might be losing important support from those whom the President immensely value. Take, for instance, members of the Supreme Court. Sooner or later their support would be needed. Would he not sacrifice somebody like Larry Gadon?
For emphasis, we say it here again. The President is not stupid. He is just biding his time. It might be just around the corner for he is not the kind who would recklessly spew gutter language. **
