Collective New Year’s resolution
It rained twice this month here in Baguio City as if there was a storm. Such strong rains in December was unheard of for half a century.
Soon we might be having summer the whole year round, with temperatures as hot as the Sahara Desert. Plants, trees and animals would die and our surroundings would all be sand.
Or we might be having nothing but rains from January to December and erosions would be happening everywhere except low lying basin like areas which will become swamps fit only for alligators and their cousins.
Either way, we are heading towards where the dinosaurs went—extinction.
There is no other way to stem the tide but for us individually and collectively to look at ourselves and reform our anti-environment ways. Let us graduate from delivering motherhood statements regarding climate change and instead do concrete acts everyday to protect our only home planet.
A small act everyday but improving on it every time can amount to a phenomenal accomplishment after sometime.
This has to start now by you and me.**
