The two kids in the house were already going crazy the other. They’d been “locked down” the past six months with only the radio, TV, their computers and cellphones with internet service barring them from becoming candidates for the mental hospital. Of course there were the five dogs and the cat, but these were not entertaining enough.
So we had no choice when they insisted with a take no prisoners attitude that they will come to the office where the internet was faster. With that, they argued, they would be better off in attending to their homework or modular assignments and their virtual classes.
We agreed on two conditions. They would take virgin coconut oil (VCO) so they will have enough lauric acid to destroy the disguise or jacket of the corona virus so it could be detected by their immune systems. There were already government and private researches that found out VCO was an effective covid treatment. I guess, it would even be stronger as a preventive measure.
The other condition was to take in enough vitamin C for a stronger immune system. We made them drink lemon juice (with just a pinch of salt, not sugar). Our lemon trees have good fruits so we just picked them from the yard for this purpose. For additional vitamin C. we took with us fresh guavas taken from two trees on the yard also. We made them eat these in the middle of the day.
Going back to the salt instead of sugar for the lemonade, I was mindful of the articles of our very own Dr. Penny A. Domogo that sugar sort of kills our immune systems.
As to vitamin D which is also an important part of an effective defense against the covid, we have more than enough sun so we should not be deficient of this.
We the oldies did not just limit ourselves to what we made the kids take. Additionally, we drunk turmeric tea with ginger. At times we would even add a small pinch of cinnamon powder.
While the key in the battle against the covid is our immune systems, we also have to religiously follow the health protocols—wearing of face masks and shields and social distancing—even if these make it so hard to breathe when walking uphill, of which we have a lot in Baguio City.
With all these, I am still covid free despite the fact that I have been doing my job as a lawyer– going to court, offices and around the city and La Trinidad.

The locality in Baguio with the most number of covid cases is the Slaughter area. This must have been due to the filth there caused by animal manure and other waste from the animals or the butchering process.
As one taxi driver said, all kinds of diseases will thrive there due to the filth and the over crowding. That part of the city is now on hard lockdown.
I learned that Italy had the same experience. The clustering of covid cases there started in an area where poultry or livestock raising was widespread.
So the common denominator was the filth.
