How different are the nights when lights do not accompany us or during dark times? When the cold harsh wind would lay the house under siege from every side, and the thick fog remain free to roam and hide what lie beyond. Whether lights have come to nearby surroundings, or if there are any hope of relieving us from such boredom in a dark and scary house.
When lights are out the craziness in a family always seem to come out. A trigger like that of a full moon to the werewolves, the darkness pulls the monstrosity in every member of the family.
The singer in all of us fill the void that was left by YouTube. Suddenly, everyone sings like a pop star, country singer, and an imagined rock star is born. When the only view one can see is the stoic ceiling and the only choice of music is the continuous strong beat of the rainfall hitting the roof, anyone can become a singer.
It is during these moments that one can truly miss the simple act of charging or the ease of mind knowing the lights will always be there when switched on. When these luxuries are gone, especially for several days in a row, we are left with only our heads to reminisce about the advantages we had taken for granted.
Though we live in a 3rd world country, and these blackouts that leave entire neighborhoods gloomy can be considered the norm, it should not remain so for the coming members of society.
In this day and age, electricity had become a basic necessity, something that is completely vital in our lives.
The absence of gasoline puts a brake on almost all lives around the country. We have seen only a glimpse of what the consequences of such a frightful reality can do to this country. And we cannot handle such an event when it comes into fruition.
Electricity is something easy to take for granted but it is something that we ought to fight hard for and to protect. From where we are placed on earth, protecting such a resource is something easier said than done. There is only so much a man can do against mother nature after all.
To lessen the electrical issues that may hound the coming generations, our progressing as a country should make that possible. But the people cannot progress without a light that guides the road ahead or a bulwark against encroaching darkness.
Yet it is only the people that can advance this country into a better future. One where we need not worry about sudden darkness invading our homes. For us to continuously bask in the shine of a bright light.**
