I see fog that shows not a single hint of how long it stretches. Feel the cold water seep into the fragile cloth of a jacket and invade the soft warm skin of the body. Feel it invade like a swarming horde, relentless and seemingly never ending.
These days, an umbrella is an absolute essential in going out, at the same time, you eventually ask the question, What’s the point of it when a trip outside will only guarantee a second and third bath of the day?
Yet, laziness cannot be an option, at least, not for a time. Everyone gets hungry after all. And a grumbling stomach will scream louder than the howling winds if left for a long time. From the hunters and gatherers of the past that went face to face with the king of the jungle, we now find ourselves duking it out with mother nature. Though that is not a fight which is in our favor.
Again I see fog that extinguishes the fierce drive for adventure outdoors. And how long it stretches is still a mystery.
Still, I am helpless against the rain that come from all sides. Completely embracing the cold rain, a second bath at home will surely help me feel better. Perseverance remains the only option. When it is an uphill battle, perhaps there will be some unpleasant experiences. We all must go out eventually, our jobs, education and responsibilities demand it.
And just as our brethren from the age of sticks and stones have done so, move on forward, step by step. Because no matter how fast we run, the rain will always be faster, might as well eliminate the possibility of slipping on the concrete, than risk a wet arse throughout the day.
The thick fog hide what lies beyond, but dreams and ambitions will always remain at their places. We go out for our ideals, goals and responsibilities. The way to our dreams are shaky, and at times, makes an unexpected curve. But at the end of the day, we all make progress. And parents put food on the table, despite the unsightly weather in these couple of days.
A battle against mother nature is not our fight to take on. Beings to help one another despite the weather and the circumstances is what we are. Our paths may be wet and slippery, but it remains in front of us all. Our goals remain and there is only one way to go in the middle of a fog, just head on straight.
The weather may change and the cold can get colder, but our goals will shine ever bright like a beacon, letting us know where to go next.**
