December has come to the Philippines, and we are all for it. While Christmas Day is still weeks away, we all want to say those two magical words as soon as possible.
Filipino enthusiasm is always good to see alongside the Christmas decorations around the city. Something to keep us warm in these coming months.
December, for many people will see their schedules fully booked. For students, their workloads will be as jam packed like the traffic in this city. On the other side of the coin, December will be a gateway to vacations for many. A finish line for the whole year.
As a kid, the goal for the rest of the year was always to make it to Christmas. Where good food, good company could always be found. It also presents the perfect excuse for many to let loose and drink to their hearts content. Eat to their limits. And keep on talking till the vomit intervenes and wants to join in.
The last month of the year will welcome many who are weary and those who are longing for home. And at the end of it bring out many who will feel the same.
Filipinos won’t always hold back when it comes to celebrating. And celebrate we should.
Before the arrival of December, people had worked day in and day out. They had suffered under the summer sun and the flood causing rains that visit this country often.
No matter how we feel our accomplishments to be underwhelming, nonetheless accomplishments would not come into fruition without effort. And they ought to be celebrated in a month filled with celebrations.
For December also signals the coming of a new year, a new set of months to go through. A new set of challenges and lessons to be learned. And the experiences we had this year will surely have a positive impact. But for now, it should be enough to look back at the past months and appreciate all we had been through. The highs and lows that make life what it is. The experiences that shaped who we are currently.
December is not complete without joys and laughter in the air even if Christmas Day is still some weeks away. All the people who made it to this stage surely deserves to experience this joyful atmosphere. Sharing with others the gift of life.**
