All young people aged 15-20 are qualified participants to the Poster-Slogan Making contest initiated by the DENR – CAR through the Conservation and Development Division (CDD) of the Technical Services.
Entries to the contest should be placed on 15″ x 20″ Poster Board (1/2 illustration board) with one-half inch margins. Also, the slogan must encapsulate the DENR’s advocacy of protecting the rivers found in the Cordillera Region, and must be written clearly in the poster.
The medium that could be used are the traditional ones like crayons, oil pastel, acrylic, water color and charcoal. All contestants are limited to only ONE submission and the entries must be the ORIGINAL creation of the contestant and was never previously published nor entered in prior contests. For. Julius Cawilan, the Division Chief of the CDD, said that the entries must be written in English, with 12 to 25 words.
Forester Cawilan emphasized that all the submitted entries shall become the property of the DENR – CAR Regional Office. He said that the thirty-six (36) winning entries shall be printed and installed as billboards along the major rivers within the Cordillera Region. “Their artworks, the result of their creative minds” shall advertise the government campaign to protect the existing rivers in the Cordilleras. Whatever we Cordillerans do in the uplands shall have a great effect to the residents downstream and to residents along coastal areas, “Hence, entries coming from the province of Abra can be installed to the other provinces like Kalinga or Mountain Province” Cawilan stressed.
Sr. Environmental Management Specialist (SMES) Ma. Trinivic Silang reminds the young participants to submit their entries not later than April 7, 2017 to make these eligible to the contest. Their entries may be directly submitted to the DENR – CAR Regional Office, Gibraltar, Baguio City or to the nearest DENR PENR or CENR Offices in the provinces.
