BAGUIO CITY – Baguio Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan on Thursday called on workers of the city government to serve the public with honesty and integrity.
“While the country celebrates Independence Day, we should renew our responsibility and continue rendering honest service, becoming models of accountability and transparency,” he said in his message during the Independence Day program at the Baguio Convention Center.
He urged the public servants to continue to be pillars of public service for the continued growth of the city.
Olowan was the highest city official to attend the event. Outgoing congressman Marquez Go sent his representative, while Mayor Benjamin Magalong prepared a video message for the event.
“Our integrity, our hard work, and compassion shift the daily experience of every citizen we serve mula sa munting barangay hanggang sa buong syudad (from the small village to the whole city),” Olowan said.
He noted that the freedom enjoyed by the country is hard-earned, fought for, and defended by the heroes.
“Hindi ito basta dumating. Our ancestors stood with courage so that we could walk free today. Sila ay nangarap ng isang bansang malaya at may dangal. Tayo ang tagapagmana ng pangarap na iyon (This did not just come. Our ancestors stood with courage so that we could walk free today. They dreamed of having a free and dignified nation and we inherit that dream),” Olowan said.
“Let us be models of transparency, accountability, and integrity. Let us support our economic progress. Whether we are in planning, policymaking, or on the front lines, your work matters.” **Liza Agoot
