In Barangay Dontogan, Baguio City, the Panbiagan Di Umili Association embraces modern urban farming with its hydroponic greenhouse. Turned over by the Department of Agriculture in May 2024, the facility highlights sustainable technology, efficient crop management, and community cooperation.
The first harvest produced 160 kilograms of romaine lettuce worth nearly ?10,000, proving the income potential of hydroponic farming even on a small scale. Earnings cover electricity costs for the automated system while the rest is saved for future projects.
Looking ahead, the association envisions expanding production and inspiring other communities to adopt modern farming practices.**DA-CAR
