BAGUIO CITY – Children, Youth, Adults and Senior Citizens – Persons with Disability (PWD) – unleashed their talents during the celebration of International PWD day, Dec. 18 and 19 at the city hall grounds.
Spearheaded by the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) led by Dr. Samuel Aquino, the event showcased singing, dancing and runway modelling anchored on the theme, “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress.”
According to Aquino, the activities as to statements from the United Nations, UN Women and World Health Organization (WHO) are calls for “removing barriers in areas like employment, healthcare, technology, ensuing inclusion drives human development for everyone.”
The event sends the message that “there should be laws for equal opportunities, access to technology, transport and digital tools, disability inclusion as essential for poverty eradication, and overall progress.”
Aquino said the talent show is a facet where Baguio PWDs participate in a socially-just and inclusive event; without discrimination.
