DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian conducted a walkthrough of the completed road project linking Purok 6 and Purok 7 in Barangay Sacpil in Conner, Apayao during his visit to the province last week.
More than 400 families in a far- flung barangay in Conner, Apayao, can now travel faster and safer with the newly improved road through the community-driven program of the DSWD.
The opening of the 700-meter access road in barangay Sacpil was initially funded under the KALAHI-CIDSS in 2023. The road was improved in 2025 through a P3-million worth concreting project covering approximately 500-meters with a standard 2.5-meters, which significantly enhanced the accessibility and ensuring safer, more reliable travel.
Sec. Gatchalian was accompanied by Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao and DSWD-CAR Regional Director Maria Catbagan-Aplaten and Apayao officials led by Governor Elias Bulut Jr. and Conner Mayor Jorico Bayaua. **RMC PIA-CAR
