TABUK CITY, Kalinga (PIA) — The Kalinga provincial government announced that it will receive P17 million financial support under the 2026 Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) that aims to boost priority programs including food security.
“The Province of Kalinga has been approved as a beneficiary of the FY 2026 Local Government Support Fund–Financial Assistance (LGSF-FA) under the Bagong Pilipinas Rice Program, amounting to 17,000,000,” the provincial government announced in a press release on March 23, 2026.
“The Provincial Government welcomed the assistance, recognizing it as a significant boost to ongoing efforts in supporting communities and advancing agricultural development in the province,” it added.
The aid is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen the country’s food security. To accelerate its implementation, the financial support will be directly downloaded to local government units
Governor James Edduba directed the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist and the financial departments to identify possible beneficiaries in accordance with the program and expedite its distribution to those who are truly in need.
Last February, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. launched the “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” initiative which bolsters financial support for local government units.
During the launch, the President announced that the LGSF has been expanded to support key programs including the distribution of rice assistance to over five million families.
The LGSF, which has been increased to P58 billion, the highest in history, is also intended to fund health infrastructure, construction of evacuation facilities, development of farm-to-market roads, water supply systems improvements, and rural electrification projects. **JDP/IOS-PIA CAR-Kalinga
