By Atty. Antonio P. Pekas

I would like to quote the reaction of one of our readers, Dr. Rafael Barroso, who is a long-time friend since our college days in Laguna. My article was on the coming difficult times which will not be for a short while. Anyway, here goes:
“Atty. Pekas. All things turn out better after the worst. The future looks good, very good. So, no need to worry. Just adjust to cheap plant protein and local veggies diet for the meantime. The hard times will be over. And good for the GenZ, who are soft bodied like jellies. They will experience hardships and will mature a bit. Good for the poor because they are not alone. Good for the world, the American Empire will be gone and the Asian Century and BRICS are up. That means the fiat dollar will be replaced by the gold backed yuan, peso, rubles, etc. and will get stable and the unregulated banking sector will get disciplined. There are wonderful scenarios to expect in the future after hard times. So be happy that hard times are here because the future is bright.”
Let me emphasize something. While we will have to suffer, there is a good side to it. Suffering can mean paying for our bad karma instead of postponing that for later. For that would mean it will become heavier as it will keep on earning interest like a debt in the bank.
We just have to bear our and those of others’ moans and groans from the pain. And such would be familiar. We blame everybody else when we are sick or suffering but we never look at ourselves. About the sufferings or injustice we caused others to go through, about which there is always time of reckoning.
In my case regarding that, I have suffered a lot already. Well, it might still not be enough. So, no choice but to wait and go through a lot more if that is how things should be. Since about four years ago, I have been going through the effects of heart and kidney failure. ….. and still going. And the past six months, me and my wife had mastered the art of rushing me to the Emergency section of the Baguio General Hospital at unholy hours of the night.
So now I have realized the secret on how not to suffer so much or so much pain. The secret is to admit we really have to suffer which must have been sown somehow somewhere in the distant past. So, we should accept and appreciate the lessons of what we are going through or will be going through. The effect? Somehow things will be easier to bear.
And to repeat the aforesaid comment of Dr. Barroso, the future is bright. We just have to bear first the pain and the moans and groans.**
