The Baguio City Police Office (CPO) marked a significant milestone in its modernization and public safety efforts with the blessing of the newly completed “Strengthened Custodial Security” project of Police Station (PS) 6 in Aurora Hill, Baguio City on May 12, 2026.
Serving as the Guest of Honor and Speaker, PCOL LEDON D MONTE, Deputy Regional Director for Operations of PRO CAR, joined PLTCOL RODELIO D OLSIM, Deputy City Director for Administration of Baguio CPO; other Baguio CPO key officers; and PCPT RODOLFO M MANGAY-AYAM, JR, Chief of Police of PS 6, in unveiling the facility’s upgraded custodial security system.
The project features structural reinforcements, smart lock integration, and an expanded CCTV monitoring system aimed at strengthening inmate management and enhancing the safety and security of both police personnel and detainees.
In his message, PCOL MONTE emphasized that the project reflects the PNP’s commitment to professionalism, compassion, and strengthened partnership between the police and the community in building a safer and more united society. He also congratulated everyone who contributed to the successful completion of the project.
Beyond these technical advancements, the event also highlighted the PNP’s “service with a heart” through the “Panag-aywan ti Kailyan 2.0” program, which included the turnover of two wheelchairs to stroke patients and ten portable nebulizers to community members suffering from asthma.
By integrating humanitarian initiatives with strengthened security measures, the event demonstrated that effective policing extends beyond law enforcement and into community welfare. More than a showcase of operational improvements, the initiative reflected the spirit of “bayanihan” and further strengthened the trust, cooperation, and partnership between the police and the residents of Aurora Hill.
A race against time: Two police officers of Tublay MPS save unconscious elderly man
A police station is often described as a highland sentinel—a place of cold reports and iron discipline. But on the morning of May 10, 2026, the Tublay Municipal Police Station became a sanctuary of hope, fueled by a motivation that did not come from a manual, but from the heart of a parent.
That morning, a concerned citizen found a 67-year-old man lying unconscious along a roadside in Tublay, Benguet. Without a vehicle, the citizen did the only thing he could—he lifted the stranger into his arms and carried him straight to the Tublay Municipal Police Station, driven by a single, determined thought: find help.
As soon as the elderly man was brought through the station doors, PSSg Lan Arnoll Balong, the station nurse, did not just see a medical emergency; he saw a life hanging by a thread. As a father of three from La Trinidad, Benguet, he knows the quiet anxiety of a family waiting at the dinner table and the fear of a seat left empty. With those thoughts anchoring his hands, he worked with focused—clearing the man’s airway and fighting for every shallow breath, determined that this father would go home and see his family again.
Once the patient was stabilized, PMSg Prince G Doligas took over. A father of four from Tadian, Mountain Province, Doligas understood the stakes. He carefully lifted the elderly man into a waiting vehicle and set out for Baguio General Hospital.
That day, PMSg Doligas, a member of PSBRC Class 2010-03 “KATAKDAYAN”, and PSSg Balong, a member of PSBRC Class 2014-03 “MASIGLAT, proved that heroism is not about grand gestures—it is about being ready and willing to act when a life hangs in the balance. More than that, it is about seeing your own family in the faces of strangers and fighting for them just the same.
