I guessed I got it right the last time around.
“The Commission recognizes the importance of adequate sports facilities in advancing grassroots and high-performance sports development and appreciates your advocacy for the completion of the Sports Complex.
However, due to the Commission’s current budgetary limitations and funding constraints, we regret to inform you that PSC (Philippine Sports Commission) has no available funds that may be allocated to support the capital outlay requirements for the completion of the subject project at this time.”
That was the message I received from Commissioner Matthew Gaston (dated July 17), Executive Director of the PSC.
Starting here you can get a very good idea how the problem even suffered a lethal blow. This is so tragic because the Ifugao Sports Complex has a distinctive purpose. It shall surely serve as a venue for discovering and developing athletes with exceptional talent, determination and sportsmanship.
I saw this come. I knew. I was right. In my previous commentary bannered “Why is the Ifugao Sports Complex in limbo?, (June 21, 2026)”, I pointed the futility and insanity of seeking Php 1.5 billion from the PSC- an action taken by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Ifugao. “The PSC has none (funds) and it gets its budget from congress. So this move is untenable,” I asserted.
Earlier, I also wrote a letter to President Marcos on this concern. The Palace contacted the PSC.
Well, look, it’s high time guys at the capitol building to find a solution at the Senate, through the General Appropriations Act of 2027.or the national budget No mystery is to great for us to solve at this point in time. Move now, acting swiftly on a problem that shouldn’t spill over in the 2028 polls for the entire world to see. Don’t be afraid to move now, to tell that it needs help from the private sector- even from a non-Ifugao source.
Work at doable solution. In what way might I’ll be able to help Governor Jerry Dalipog? In what way would he like to hear ways of addressing their longstanding problem?
Governor Dalipog molds, develops and empowers athletes. Without the ISC, promising athletes may never reach their potentials. It’s now or never!
I’m committed to helping Governor Dalipog thus, providing direct relief to the problem. And make it a reality of drawing crowds at the ISC for spectator sports such, as track and field and swimming. Because of this, there is hope for a better sports program in Ifugao. Very good, for this akin to finally hosting the CARAA! That’s the result of hard work!**
