Board Member Peter Bunnag is open to taking measures to strengthen the family. Here’s one: Bunnag just crafted an ordinance honoring couples who endured 50 years of marital vows in Ifugao. It is tied up to the 50th golden wedding anniversary program and with it is the Php 50,000 cash incentive for a recipient,
It is a very good news for qualified couples in the province’s 11 towns.
“We are confident that this initiative will further enable us to help more of our Ifugao families live happier,” he said.
If that happens, then perhaps someday that the conditions of lives of folks most especially in far-flung economically disadvantaged villages shall get better. Ifugao stands once more again, at a crossroads between despair and hope. Board Member Bunnag had indeed taken a bold move. It is now up to his 13 colleagues at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to prove that good governance is not a mere slogan but a commitment.
Facing this unfinished task that drives him to honor them since 2022- when he was first elected to the provincial board, Bunnag is expected to file the ordinance shortly.
In all history, going back to the time when Ifugao started its beginnings as a province, the search from one town to another is unique as its hard to find anything like this. It was because Board Member Bunnag truly cared for the family that he personally engaged with parents and children with a great display of affection and understanding.
In the future, when incoming folks also look for the long-lasting ties among couples, they are likely to conclude that this ordinance answered the need to recognize this development.
Society is demanding that legislators promote governance in the family level.
Bunnag’s diligent persistence to help families has ultimately saved awareness among different sectors.
Just how important they are to him becomes clear just a few days he penned the ordinance. This would make it easier for him to identify them and care on the people to emulate their good deeds. What should result is a period of contentment.
Going forward in confidence, Bunnag moves with the people to greater heights, and his presence at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan remains a good sign for a brighter tomorrow. He remains committed to his mission of building stronger families through acts of kindness and meaningful impact.
Bunnag heads the committee on social services, disadvantaged individuals, women, children and family. The committee has significantly contributed to the welfare of impoverished folks, reinforcing its quest of humanitarianism.
Bunnag’s commitment to making these opportunities at the family level should have a lasting impact. For this, I’m commending him for recognizing matrimony as a masterpiece of love and mission.
