There was this article on FB about Monica Lewinsky and it is high time we revisited the lessons behind the voluptuous sides of it. Most importantly for us to look at the members of the families involved as human beings. While it is easy to just publish anything about the brouhaha, that would be being stupid.
Everybody knows how she and Bill Clinton desecrated the Oval Office in the dead of night—the cigar that went into the wrong hole, the sperm that spurted into Monica’s blue dress instead of into the right hole, and whatever else happened there. But for all their stupid acts, though might have been ecstatic, they are humans with all the vulnerabilities also present in all others. The more important point, however, are the effects on the innocent third parties.
After Monica became an international embarrassment, courtesy of cyber space, her parents had to make sure the bathroom door remained unlocked whenever she was there. It was to ensure she would not commit anything as dire as suicide. More so as at about that time, a guy’s student room mate sneakily took a shot of a guy room mate kissing another guy and then uploaded it in the internet. The victim, shortly thereafter, committed suicide.
Would you as a parent like watching over the bathroom door of your kid to make sure he or she will not commit suicide?
And how did Bill Clinton’s unbridled libido go down on the relatives of Monica? How did things go down on Hillary Clinton and on their daughter?
Short as the lessons might be, they are so far reaching and can be so dire in their effects. For we are not anymore primitive. There is the internet and other related modernities accessible to everyone.
The point is we should all be responsible in dealing with the internet, especially, the social media platforms. Be aware that whatever you do will somehow come back to haunt you in the future and those close to you. There is one word for it, karma.
To the credit of Bill Clinton, at least, he tried to get Monica a god job by calling on his friends but who all declined due to her lack of the skills required by the positions sought. **
