Yesterday, I just heard of a neighbor who for sometime was in a tight battle against cancer. While he valiantly fought against the disease, things were so uphill for him as things were confirmed quite late. The enemy was so advanced already that any effort proved futile. So he is just waiting for his time about which I will expound on further down below.
Then I heard of another case of another acquaintance fighting the same enemy of another kind. There appears to be also not much hope as things got known too late for a fighting chance in any medical battle against it. So he has to endure the pain as he waits for his time, which in the final analysis might be for his own good and his family.
For both cases, we can only commiserate or empathize. I myself had been in pain for various serious illnesses the past five years and still reeling from their effects. But we fight on for dear life. So I am now In a better situation. Am still alive and should be looking at a number or even many years of life down the road, even if it entails having to take in fistfuls of pills or capsules every day.
Fine, after all, even with my almost bad typing due to my overall condition I still can go to the office and work every day. Giving up is not an option as my only kid is still just about to graduate from college and I intend to live for many years so I could see him achieve his full potential and, God willing, to be able to see a grand kid or two. Huh! The secret, I think, is to keep on fighting to survive day-to-day challenges no matter how bad things appear.
I am not young anymore and I have seen how things can turn out right for those of us and others who are similarly situated. Such involve not giving up. To keep on going.
How about the suffering involved? Well, we have to endure these. Am sure God did not bring these our way for no reason at all. These are usually for our own good. That’s how I look at things. They might be in payment for injustices or sins, or mistakes we committed in the past (I am a believer of past lives), or for our betterment in body, mind or spirit for the sake of our future. In short, for our overall improvement in the evolutionary process. Wait, before anybody raises a hue and cry about evolution versus creation, I am a believer in both.
Whatever you believe in, both processes are ongoing, together or independent of each other. Any disagreement is pointless, for you might agree with me that regardless of how we look at things, everything is happening for the better.**
