The Insurance Commission (IC) formally opened its Baguio District Office on 27 October 2026, bringing its services closer to the insuring public and industry stakeholders of Baguio City, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and Northern Luzon.
IC Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Ermar U. Benitez led the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which was attended by Atty. Janice Marie Domogan Dy and Mr. Ryan B. Javier of the Office of Baguio City Congressman Mauricio G. Domogan, Engr. Doy Tabilog of the Office of City Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong, Engr. Fernando D. Sawali of the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), and representatives of various insurance companies.
“Today, the Insurance Commission plants new roots in the North,” said OIC Benitez in his keynote message. “Here, policyholders can seek assistance, raise complaints, and receive guidance without having to travel to Manila. Here, our partners from the industry can now transact with the Commission without need for a trip to the Head Office.”
The Baguio District Office will provide public assistance, receive and act on complaints and requests for assistance involving insurance, pre-need, and HMO products, and provide licensing-related assistance to insurers, intermediaries, and other stakeholders in the region.
Beyond carrying out its day-to-day regulatory functions, the Baguio District Office will also serve as a hub for promoting financial literacy and education.
IC thanked Congressman Domogan, the City Government of Baguio, and DBP for their support, and reaffirmed IC’s commitment to prudent and progressive regulation so that every Filipino is within reach of protection.
