The holiday season is nigh upon us. We can now expect the handouts from many officials. Gift baskets, Christmas packages and all sorts. But we ought to keep in mind and keep it festering deep inside the anger for corruption. We don’t have to reject these packages, but then again we don’t have to be truthful in our “thank you”, they don’t have to come from the heart. Truth is, these are only the smallest portions of the peoples wealth being given back, for billions remain hidden away still.
We can receive these packages in one hand, but keep a knife hidden in the other one. For many, this Christmas season is a time for joy. But it is hard to be happy when you are told that 500 pesos is enough to feed your family by someone who will likely spend more than that this season.
Don’t let the disconnected officials fool you. For they have no clue what its like for the common family, much less the down-trodden.
