Bontoc, Mountain Province – In a significant move to advance science and technology education in the region, the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Science and Technology-Cordillera Administrative Region (DOST-CAR) and Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School (MPGCHS).
The collaborative effort aims to implement a project titled “Science and Technology Education through Robotics for Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School.”
The MOA signing ceremony took place at the Mayor’s Conference Hall of the Municipal Capitol on July 10, 2023, and was attended by Senior Education Program Specialist-School Mobilization Networking Section of DepEd-Mountain Province, Sonia Batnag, personnel from the MPGCHS led by Principal Atkinson Tudlong, Minirva Songaben, OIC of the Provincial Science and Technology Office-Mountain Province, LEO III Jenelyn Caluza, and Municipal Accountant Yolanda Comafay.
The partnership signifies their shared commitment in providing students with access to cutting-edge technology and hands-on learning experiences, enabling them to develop critical skills for the 21st-century workforce.
Under the project, MPGCHS will be provided with a total of 234,426.74 to include 174,426.74 from DOST-CAR, 10,000.00 from MPGCHS as its counterpart, and 50,000.00 from the Bontoc LGU under Special Education Fund (SEF).
The project aims to equip science teachers and students with 21st-century learning styles.
Mayor Tudlong expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration in promoting promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education.
