The Office of the City Social Welfare Officer (OCSWDO) under OCSWD Officer Liza Bulayungan reported a successful rescue and reunification of a female vagrant with her family.
“From Baguio’s streets to Nueva Ecija’s embrace: A journey home for Christmas,” the office aptly titled the story of rescue of the patient.
Bulayungan said the client was rescued from the city streets last April 15, 2024, after being found begging and without a place to stay.
They worked out the patient’s admission to the Silungan Center where she was provided her needs.
The patient underwent medical evaluation where she was diagnosed with Undifferentiated Schizophrenia which had severely affected her memory.
“After eight months of consistent medication, her condition improved, enabling her to recall some details about her family. She revealed that she was from San Jose City, Nueva Ecija. Upon coordination with the CSWDO of San Jose City, it was confirmed that the client originated from the area, and her brother was successfully located,” Bulayungan related.
On December 19, 2024, the client was reunited with her brother, who willingly took her in despite their prolonged separation due to family circumstances. The turn-over was facilitated by Social Worker Fares Alinchawang with the help of CSWD of San Jose. ** OCSWDO
