Like all good books, a story has its final page. And eventually, the words which have kept us invested and following along comes to a blank. On to the next we go. The next story and adventure.
With a new year comes our next story. And all the lessons it brings.
After reading a memorable book, I personally take some time off from stories and reflect upon what I just read. When the impact is that strong, it takes time for me to reel from it. Just like your blank faces after a good movie. Sometimes doing nothing is what helps us sink in what we have just witnessed.
The connection we feel to a story helps us to immerse ourselves in that world. Understand every bit of their intentions and in doings we become attached. The more we are connected to a story, the harder it is to let go.
So it may be harder to swallow the fact that our current year ends in 5, and not 4 any longer. The sight which we have been so used to is now different. The memories we made last season adds more value to what we would be letting go.
And here we are about to enter a new one. We can ask ourselves all sorts of questions. Would it be a better one than last year. Would it have more challenges or rewards. Compared to the comforts of last year, when we have already seen it all, the thick fog that covers what lay ahead in this year only makes one yearn for time to go back.
Uncertainty is only normal when we cant see what lays in front of us. The imagination which can add so much more color to life, can also add in unnecessary monsters.
A man is a thinking being but he is not a reliable predictor of the future. He is someone who lives in the present and can only do so at that time. Like how I often catch myself in a daze, reminiscing of the past too much, thinking of what is to come, we stop existing in the present. Content of seeing a vision long past instead of the view now and trying to be too smart and anticipate what has not existed yet.
It’s always best to keep it simple. We take in the new year slowly. After all we all started and will end this year at the same time. In the end, everyone will finish on time. Though not everyone can make this year a blast.**
