The Land Transportation Office will roll out the ten (10) year validity of driver’s licenses to holders who hadcompleted the five (5) years validity provided that they have not incurred any apprehension or demerit as provided under Republic Act 10930 starting in the National Capital Region by October 18, 2021. The Cordillera Administrative Region and other regions shall follow.
A driver must complete an eight (8) hours Driver’s Enhancement Program (DEP) from the LTO Driver’s Education Center or from an LTO accredited driving school before renewal of the Driver’s License.
The Driving Enhancement Program (DEP) seminar covers road safety and land transportation laws, rules and regulations. This is to ensure that all license holder is qualified and molded as defensive and responsible drivers. After the Driving Enhancement Program (DEP) applicants shall need to pass the random 25 question exam. He/she must get an 80% passing score before a certificate of completion is issued. Applicants who have failed may retake the exam the same day.
According to LTO-CAR Director Francis Ray A. Almora, LTO Assistant Secretary Edgar C. Galvante issued a memorandum for the extension of validity of registration, student-driver’s permit (SP) driver’s license and conductor’s license that are to expire during the quarantine restriction period from 01 to 31 October 2021
Meanwhile, the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) a web-based Information Technology system has been rolled out to 5 district offices in the region (Baguio, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga and Mt. Province). The new system showcases the use of technology for fast and efficient public service for a progressive land transport sector.
All application for driver’s license (new and renewal) and other transactions are being catered by the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS). Transactions now starts from a comfortable place of the clients using his/her Smartphone, desktop or laptop. Clients can select the day they will go to LTO for their transaction after logging in at portal.lto.gov.ph by following the menu of transactions.**
