Bontoc, Mountain Province – A total of 1,014 beneficiaries of the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens (SPISC) Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) are set to receive their third-quarter pension on August 14-16, 2024, at the Municipal Capitol.
Social Welfare Officer III Stephanie Kanongkong of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) made this announcement during the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) meeting on June 26, 2024, in Barangay Caluttit, Bontoc, Mountain Province.
The SPISC program aims to enhance the quality of life for eligible indigent senior citizens by augmenting their daily subsistence and medical needs, mitigating hunger, and safeguarding them from neglect, abuse, or deprivation. The program extends its coverage to indigent senior citizens without a stable income, lacking regular support from family or relatives, or not receiving pensions from other institutions.
Based on the guidelines for the program’s implementation, recipients must be 60 years old and above; frail, sickly, or with a disability; without regular support from family or relatives for their basic needs; must not have a pension from the Government Service Insurance System, Social Security System, Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association, Inc. (AFPMBAI), or other insurance companies; and must have no permanent source of income. **Christy Mae C. Pangesfan, Bontoc LGU
