Bontoc, Mountain Province- A total of 135 accredited Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) in this capital town received their financial incentives amounting to 5,000.00 for the first semester of the current year.
The incentives were given in recognition of the commendable service the BHWs rendered in support of the various health programs of the government.
The giving of the financial incentives was done during the Orientation of the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) and Municipal Health Office (MHO) staff on WHO-CGS, MUAC Taking, and OPT Plus Tools and Culminating Activity of the Nutrition Month held on August 16, 2022, at the Municipal Capitol Auditorium.
In his message, Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., lauded the BHWs’ for their continued support of the government’s health programs and activities.
“Our BHWs are worthy recipients of incentives and grants since they always go beyond their call of duty to serve the people. They are tapped by the MHO to act as force multipliers in delivering health-related services to the community,” he added.
Meanwhile, the BHWs and BNS had orientations on the following topics: Functions of BHWs, Roles of BNS in Nutrition Program, and benefits of BHW/BNS by BHW Coordinator, Mhela May Bagni; Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) measurement by Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Venous Faith Cofulan; and WHO-Child Growth Standards (CGS) and Computation of Age in Months by DOH-Health Program Officer Jane Pearl Bolinget.
