BAGUIO CITY April 26 – Some 18,734 overseas and local jobs have been made available by a total of forty five overseas and local employment agencies/companies in time for the city’s Labor Day jobs fair on May 1, 2018 at the Baguio City National High School (BCNHS) gymnasium.
Of the available jobs, some 16,386 jobs will be offered by overseas employment agencies while some 2,348 jobs have been made available by the participating 31 local companies that signified their intention to join in the annual jobs fair.
Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan extended the invitation to all job seekers to visit the venue to try their luck in looking for jobs that will fit their qualifications and for them to come early for them to have a chance to either be hired on the spot or given the necessary endorsements.
Other services to be offered during the jobs fair include one-stop shop for government services, livelihood fairs and health and wellness center.
The participating local companies are 51 Talk, SM Supermarket, Utalk Tutorial Services, Summit Bank and Prime Hotel, Citylight Hotel, Tree Top Adventure, Ace Harware, IQOR, Pines International Academy Inc., International Groups, Sunshine Supermart, Hotel Veniz, McDonald’s, Toyota, Puregold, Tiong San, Baguio Country Club, Sitel, Hydroelectric Development Corporation, FC Laranang, Banco de Oro, National Bookstore, KB World Trading Corporation, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Cordillera, Genmeen Engineering, Device Dynamic Asia, Well from Trading Corporation, Camp John Hay, City Human Resource Management Office – Baguio City, Drake Marketing, SM Supermalls, Monol International Education Institute and Noble Trends Unbound, Inc..
The annual Labor Day jobs fair is an institutionalized program of the local government in coordination with the Department of labor and Employment, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and other concerned offices of the city.
Domogan reminded the thousands of job applicants to bring with them sufficient number of pertinent documents for them to be able to file their applications to as many companies as they desire for them to be able to land a job.
Prior to the opening of the jobs fair, the local government and its partners will be holding a simple opening program to jumpstart the whole day event to celebrate Labor Day in the city.
The local chief executive expressed his gratitude to all the participating overseas employment agencies and local companies for being a consistent partner of the local government in the implementation of the annual Labor Day jobs fair so that the thousands of job seekers will be given a chance to link with the companies that require their skills and knowledge for them to become productive residents of the city.
He remains optimistic that a good number of job applicants will be hired on the spot by the participating companies so that they will be able to start working to earn income that will help in improving the living conditions of their families that live in the city’s 128 barangays or in neighboring communities inside and outside the region.**By Dexter A.
