BANGUED, Abra, – – Two local government units in the province were among those recognized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) with the 2018 National Award to Local Government Units with most highly functional Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (ADACs),
The municipalities of Bangued and Bucay of Abra were among the 241 LGUs nationwide that passed the rigid criteria of choosing the most Highly Functional ADACs for the year 2018 and were awarded last December 28 at the Manila Hotel.
Out of the 81 provinces, 146 cities, and 1,488 municipalities throughout the nation, only 241 qualified for the award.
Aside from Bangued and Bucay, the other LGU awardees from the Cordillera were Buguias and La Trinidad of Benguet, and Tabuk City of Kalinga.
In her sharing, Bucay Mayor Bernadette C. Baroña said their MADAC got a rating of 90 percent representing an Ideal Rating that qualified them for the award. Bucay was one of the LGUs that seriously implemented the flagship program of President Rodrigo R. Duterte on anti-drug campaign. Its MADAC stood up with its sustained anti-drug program that includes the continued rehabilitation program for the drug surrenderers coupled with support facilities and infrastructures.
