PARACELIS, Mountain Province– Two suspects were arrested in Paracelis, Mountain Province for using and possessing suspected counterfeit money.
Police reports identified the suspects as Anthony Serrano Agustin, 38, resident of Ballesteros, Cagayan and his live-in partner Maylene Velasco, 33, native of Asipulo, Ifugao, and resident of Bicutan, Taguig City.
The incident transpired at about 7:00 PM of May 11, 2017 at Poblacion, Paracelis victimizing the following business people identified as Dominga Alinao, Elsa Jimenez, Dolores Chuga and Berlindo Vergara, all residents of Poblacion, Paracelis.
Investigation disclosed that the suspects went to the different stores of the victims and bought goods using one thousand peso bills then left.
However, the store owners noticed that the money were not genuine prompting them to report it to the Paracelis Municipal Police Station.
Responding personnel were able to locate and apprehend the two suspects at a hotel located at Poblacion, Paracelis through the statement of the complainants.
PNP personnel searched the personal belongings of the suspects and discovered 32 pieces of one thousand peso bills with the same serial number RJ074346 and 10 pieces of one thousand peso bills with the same serial number BS879477 inside the back pack of Agustin.
