Two multipurpose buildings will rise at Wright Park. These are the Sustainable Infrastructure Projects Alleviating GAPS (SIPAG) Multipurpose Building with a budget of P29.4 million and the Basic Infrastructure Program Multipurpose Building with a budget of P49.5 million.
The said amounts were included in the approved 2022 budget of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Last January 16, the Baguio City Council passed a resolution confirming the memorandum of agreement entered into between Mayor Benjamin Magalong and the DPWH for the implementation of the two projects.
Atty. Rhenan Diwas, City Environment and Park Management Officer, told the council that it was their office that prepared the project proposals for the construction of the two structures which formed part of the Wright Park Rejuvenation Program of the city government. He said the proposed projects, however, were listed under the Sustainable Infrastructure Projects Alleviating GAPS and Basic Infrastructure Program of the DPWH since Park Rejuvenation Program is not included in their “menu” of projects.
The P29-million SIPAG multipurpose Building will be a two-story structure with a half-way basement to be used as a parking facility with 10 slots. The first floor will house 30 2×2 meter food stalls to be occupied by existing concessionaires in the area. The third floor will accommodate the multipurpose hall of Lualhati Barangay and an art bank.
The 49.5-million Basic Infrastructure Program Multipurpose Building will be a two-story building with a basement to be used as a parking facility with 40 slots. The ground floor will be an equine house with thirty-two horse stables and a veterinary clinic for the horses while the upper ground floor will house 92 commercial stalls.
Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan expressed hope that the two projects would be implemented “at the soonest possible time.” **Jordan G. Habbiling
