BAGUIO CITY– The Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) in coordination with the Regional Search Committee for the Search for Outstanding Volunteers (SOV) has launched the 2017 Search for Outstanding Volunteers.
This annual activity aims to highlight and recognize Filipino volunteers for their exemplary performance and dedication to service in building strong communities across the region.
The Search is open to all Filipino citizens and volunteer organizations or local chapter organizations of foreign volunteer organizations that currently provide volunteer assistance in the Cordillera region.
The SOV has two award categories – the National Outstanding Volunteer Award (NOVA) and the Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Award (VLAA).
The NOVA is a recognition conferred to outstanding volunteer individuals and organizations, including corporate volunteering initiatives that are chosen from among the regional qualifiers.
The VLAA is awarded to a Filipino volunteer or a Filipino volunteer organization or a local chapter of a foreign volunteer organization serving in the Philippines.
Last year, the Cordillera region produced two NOVAs – Engr. Andres Ngao-i and Dr. Robert Tolentino.
Other national awardees from the Cordillera include Dr. Virgilio Bautista in 2015, Cristina Segkanen Aban of IYAMAN, Inc. in 2011, and Marcelo Abella of the Regional Agricultural and Fishery Council in 2010. Darren Carino was a regional awardee under the individual youth category in 2014 and 2016.
The deadline for submission of nominations is on July 15, 2017. Accomplished nomination forms can be submitted to NEDA-CAR office, Botanical Garden, Leonard Wood Road, Baguio City.
Conferment of awards will be in December during the National Volunteer Month (NVM) celebration.
