BAGUIO CITY (PIA) — The Department of Science and Technology – Cordillera (DOST-CAR) slated the 2022 Regional Science and Technology (S&T) Week on September 20-22, 2022.
With the theme “Agham at Teknolohiya: Kabalikat sa Maunlad at Matatag na Kinabukasan,” various activities will be conducted including webinars and exhibits.
DOST-CAR Regional Director Nancy Bantog said they will be launching two major programs in the region.
“There are two major programs, the Landslide Knowledge Management System and this is at UP Baguio, DOST funded this one. Also, the Modelling Understanding Landslide Events in the BLISTT area (Baguio – La Trinidad – Itogon – Sablan – Tuba – Tublay). This was endorsed by RDC and was approved and funded under DOST Central Office,” Bantog said.
S&T exhibits will also feature the research development and institutions in Cordillera.
Likewise, Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) Summit will be conducted to include the awarding of Best SETUP Adoptor and Best Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology Community for 2021-2022.
“There will still be webinars and capability building to cater to the training needs of the research and development ecosystem, and also our MSMEs by featuring webinars on Smart Manufacturing Solutions through projects of DOST Metals Industry Research and Development Center,” Bantog added.
Also, activities for the Cordillera Month celebration that were not conducted because of the magnitude 7.0 earthquake in will push through.
The Webinar on Industry 4.0 Technologies for the Weaving Industry will be conducted on September 21. This will cover the introduction to the digitization of weave patterns and textiles, and hands-on navigation and basic weave pattern drafting using an advance weaving software.
The Cordillera Weave Fashion Show, Talk Show and Exhibit will also be conducted afternoon of September 21 at the Benguet State University Gymnasium. The exhibit will run the whole S&T Week. **JDP/DEG-PIA CAR
