BAGUIO CITY – Over 23,000 job opportunities will be offered during the 108th Charter Day Anniversary Job Fair set Sept. 16, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Baguio Convention Center.
Public Employment Services Office (PESO) designate and Executive Assistant Jose Atanacio of the city mayor’s office said more than 20,000 vacancies were posted by 16 overseas job placement agencies which will participate in the fair.
These were led by Placewell Int’l. Services Corp. which will post 5,399 jobs and United Philippine Lines Inc. with 5,210 vacancies, Magsaysay Maritime Corporation with 2,200 and Y HMD Int’l. Services Inc. with 2,051 jobs.
Most of the vacancies are for hospital or medical, cruise ship and food service personnel. Others are for skilled workers.
Twenty two local companies will offer a total of 2,588 job openings led by IQOR with 800 jobs and 51 Talk with 500.
Twenty local firms will also join the activities topbilled by Convergys with 500 openings, Texas Instruments with 267 and Sitel Philippines Corp. with 200 slots.
Other local companies with job tenders are: Max’s Group Inc with 21 slots; Sutherland, 100; Welllform Trading Corp., 15; Tree Top Adventure, 17; Pines International Academy, 29; SM Supervalue/Supermarket, 80; Metrobank, 114; City Light, 16; John Hay Management Corp., 199; The Mano, 12; HEDCOR Aboitiz, 2; Toyota, 12; Utalk Tutorial, 21; Baguio Country Club, 67; FC Laranang, 95; Tiongsan, 74; and Sunshine/McDonalds/Hotel Veniz, 105.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) posted 189 vacancies while the Philippine National Police Cordillera will recruit 74.
The fair will also include one-stop services by the Philhealth, Social Security System and the Pag-IBIG as well as free haircut, massage and international calls.
Mayor Mauricio Domogan said the jobs fair, a mainstay in the Baguio Day calendar of activities, is undertaken yearly by the city government through the PESO with the Dept. of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and other government and private agencies to reach out to jobseekers in the city.
Applicants are advised to bring resume with 2 x 2 ID pictures, authenticated birth certificate, high school or college diploma, transcript of records, NBI, police and barangay clearance, SSS number, taxpayer’s identification number, medical certificate, marriage contract (if married), training certificates, professional licenses, and certificates of employment (if formerly employed). ** Aileen P.
