Victims of the Baguio Pubic Market fire incident received additional cash assistance from the DSWD-CAR thru Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go and Senator Robin Padilla. The two senators personally met with the more than 1,400 beneficiaries of the educational assistance they sponsored during the payout facilitated by the DSWD-CAR with the city government of Baguio thru the City Social Welfare and Development Office in a program at the Baguio Central School on Saturday, March 25, 2023. The beneficiaries are among the victims of the recent fire incident that burned down the Block 3 and 4 of the Baguio Public Market. The educational cash assistance is under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) Program of the DSWD-CAR. The beneficiaries received 10,000 pesos each during the payout. Aside from the cash assistance, Senators Go and Padilla also distributed rice and grocery items to the fire victims. They also gave away basketballs, shades, watches, bicycles, shoes and cellphones to selected beneficiaries. The payout and program was also joined by Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, Congressman Mark Go represented by Sol Go, Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan, DSWD-CAR Regional Director Leo Quintilla and OIC-ARD for Operations Amelyn Cabrera, DTI-CAR Regional Director Juliet Lucas and Assistant Regional Director Atty.
