Some 309 PNP personnel from the Police Regional Office Cordillera attended a send-off ceremony to Metro Manila in the morning of November 8, 2017 to help in the maintenance of peace and order and security for the Southeast Asian Nations summit which is being hosted by the Philippines. The send-off was led by Police Regional Office Cordillera Regional Director PCSupt. Elmo Francis Sarona. A holy mass was celebrated at the Masigasig parade grounds at Camp Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet as part of the event.
Majority of the group came from the Regional Public Safety Battalion led by Police Supt. Greg Ammiyao, Deputy Battalion Commander, RPSB.
PRO-Cor leadership enjoined the contingent to follow orders from their commanding officers. All movements should be covered by orders from an authorized officer. The regional director reminded them to maintain cleanliness in the area where they will be assigned and to observe maximum tolerance in dealing with protesters. Finally, he mentioned the PRO-Cor battle cry, ‘discipline, commitment, and teamwork’.
The entire force of the Philippine National Police is still in full alert status. PNP personnel should prepare and be ready for deployment anytime should any situation requires additional personnel, thus, all vacation leaves are cancelled.
Sarona assured the public that despite the deployment, PRO-Cor does not keep its guard down and continue to monitor “threat groups” and is ready to respond to any emergency situation.** Ferdie Cariño Castañeda
