Bontoc, Mountain Province – The Biyaya Animal Care Philippines in partnership with the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) through the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMAg) and the Provincial Veterinary Office conducted Free Spay and Neuter activity on November 7, 2022, held at the Parking Area, Municipal Capitol.
According to Agricultural Technologist II Sheryll Tumingeb of the OMAg, thirty-two (32) dogs and nine cats were neutered while 25 dogs and 18 cats were spayed during the said activity.
Spaying is the way of sterilizing a female cat or dog by removing their reproductive organs while neutering means the sterilization of male animals by removing both testicles. Further, the said procedures allow for a healthy population of cats and dogs to thrive and also deters diseases and complications.
Vice Mayor Eusebio Kabluyen and Sangguniang Bayan Member Benedict Odsey II who chairs the Committee on Agriculture, awarded a certificate of appreciation to the foundation for their effort in advancing animal welfare.
In an interview, Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., expressed his utmost gratitude to the organization for bringing their services to the municipality.
