The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) headed by Liza Daisa Bulayungan spearheads the search for the ten Outstanding Senior Citizens Achievers Award (OSCAA) of Baguio City.
Bulayungan said this awarding aims to honor and praise senior citizens for their significant contributions to society and to urge them to continue sharing their valuable experience and wisdom to the younger generations.
The criteria in choosing this year’s outstanding elderly achievers include: Nominees must be 65 years old and above; had accomplished or initiated projects/activities/programs for the upliftment of senior citizens within the City of Baguio; had consistently been supporting/ promoting programs and services for senior citizens; he/she must be nominated by any organization or community groups whom they serve; and they must not nominated by family members or relatives.
The candidate may be disqualified if he/she died during the period of assessment; if requirements were submitted late, and if two or more family members were nominated within a year.
Organizations and groups must submit duly accomplished nomination forms and letter of endorsement from the senior citizen organization or association where the nominee is affiliated at the City Social Welfare and Development Office, Silungan Center or at the Office of Senior Citizen Affairs, Salud Mitra on or before September 30, 2024.
The steering committee of the elderly month composed of CSWDO, office of Councilors Betty Lourdes Tabanda and Elmer Datuin, Department of Social Welfare and Development Office, National Commission of Senior Citizens, Department of Interior and Local Government, City Health Services Office, Baguio Public Information Office, Federation of Baguio Senior Citizens Association, Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs, Philippine Government Retirees Association, Inc., and the BARP Foundation, Inc. will screen and choose the ten awardees.
