It is Friday again today. It is hell day for me as I have to come up with the issue of this paper. No matter how bad my mood is, I have to. I was practically waiting for some good news to set my mood well.
Then came the postman. With him were a bundle of letters. The way they looked, they were on court cases I was handling. Chances are, I forgot all about these having concentrated since last December on curing my self or on recovering from the heart attack or heart failure I suffered.
Mostly they were from out of town, from the Supreme Court or from the Court of appeals. Some of course were from local courts. I silently prayed as I opened those from out of town that they were not bearing some disastrous news. I was hoping that some would be bearing some good tidings to change my somber mood.
I opened the one from the Supreme Court and , voila! It was great news. The highest court of the land reversed a decision that we lost before the Court of Appeals. So finally, we have won. Certainly, my clients were very happy. All the while, they were thinking their military careers had already ended. But their conviction by the lower courts were reversed. They were declared innocent after 11 years of anxiety.
All along, I knew the decisions of the lower courts were wrong. To get, however, a Supreme Court decision correcting the matter can be a shot in the dark. It tuned out I was wrong. Indeed the Supreme Court is the court of last resort.
Immediately, I called up the leader of my clients to inform him he can now think about becoming a general. While he laughed, I was not kidding. He had already been a full colonel for a number of years already.
When he dropped by the office to se the decision, he was grinning from ear to ear as…… of course was expected.
Earlier that morning, I got reminded of the secret on how to make your day better. It is all summed up by the phrase ”positive thinking.” So I was thinking positively that time. And it resulted in the coming of that letter from the Supreme Court.
