Living quite a distance from the city, we always have to be mindful where and when to get some water. With 5 people living in a single household, 5 unwashed bodies would be more than dreadful. Still, it is always great having a reminder to appreciate the little things like water at a time when we always rush out of the house. Whenever we do go back inside, we immediately start to reset our mindset on what to expect tomorrow. Time is short, especially that we don’t even bother to look at the clock or around us.
Whenever we do get water with all the stress it took, it is all too easy to take it for granted once more. Of course, that is only the case until water starts to run out once more. Similar to our promise of waking up earlier tomorrow because we will find again ourselves standing beside the road at the same time our classes or jobs start. Though whether our promises are fulfilled is a question to be answered the next day. When we return to another messy situation.
With Panagbenga already here in the city, traffic and pleas to wake up earlier the next day is more frequent. Thankfully, students are blessed with holidays to take a breather after coming down from the cold month of January. Colors and flowers will once more dominate the headlines just as tourists will dominate the road.
With cold and lockdowns that Covid once put on our doors, it is refreshing to once more expect a colorful festival in the city, of course in addition to the holidays that students can enjoy. Never again do we want to experience our whole world being shrunk into a single house.
With Panagbenga and Valentine’s about to brighten up a city that has been extremely cold for weeks, we can all use the colors and romance to recover from the harsh temperatures. We all know our eyes need something better to see than old familiar faces of family and friends.
However, like water that is unsure to be delivered, scheduled events will always have a chance of falling through. Our life can’t be sure that something like Cvid or something much worse will occur tomorrow. No matter how important one is, just as water is vital to live, it is not 100% it will always be there for us to consume.
Though we can be sure of our own hearts that it will always give back to others. With souls that have been made and molded with love, we can be100% sure love never disappears on this earth. Recycling, Reusing, Reducing, values that can give back to earth. Values that will survive as long as there is someone who still cares.
As long as we can be courageous and do our part in sharing love to everything around us, we can be sure that hope will follow suit, and there will be no need to feel unsure.
