The Department of Agriculture-CAR through the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) launched a ‘tiangge ‘in front of the Organic Agriculture building, BPI grounds, Guisad, Baguio City on June 19, 2017.
Tiangge sa DA-CAR is a one stop shop that offers locally produced products from the DA assisted farmers and producers collectively from the six provinces of the Cordillera.
This undertaking of the marketing arm of the DA-CAR seeks to promote potential agricultural products of the region, either fresh or processed.
“The tinagge aims to promote safe food that’s why we are targeting organic products while providing a consolidated market area for buyers and alternative market for farmers,” Ruben Dulagan, Senior Agriculturist of AMAD said.
Each province will take turn every Monday to sell their products. The province of Ifugao will bring their various types of Tinawon rice and rice wine. Mountain Province will be heirloom rice, organic vegetables, etag; Abra will sell their ube, honey and livestock products; Benguet will bring their Arabica coffee, organic vegetables, kini-ing and kinuday. For the province of Apayao, they will be selling cacao products and ube, and Kalinga will also bring their coffee products, rice and other locally produced marketable products.
The tiangge will open on June 29-30, 2017 in line with the celebration of the DA-CAR’s 29th founding anniversary. After that, the operation will resume every Monday at the One Stop Agribusiness Center (OSAC) at the CAMC building.**
