LAGAWE, IFUGAO – – Young legislators of the province’s first district is not only a great and growing group for the ever-promising quality legislation task. It is also a great and growing pool for the Cordillera Administrative Region.
Lagawe is poised to become the beneficiary of this development, as defined by the success of Eric Jason Dugyon, who earned his second term in the May midterm polls.
Dugyon, a well-educated lawmaker, is staying around, and f lks-young and old alike, are enthusiastically in the hand for the good news.
Dugyon, a graduate of Saint Louis University in Baguio City, speaks clearly and carefully; he’s worth something priceless in a field of non-performing politicians. The effort has paid off for him.
Setting the stage on the high level will be the committee chairmanship assignment for Dugyon, when he brings his experience and qualifications to the fore. At the Sangguniang Bayan (SB), the committee chairman certainly shall showcase one’s depth and ability to pass or reject a proposed measure. So, they have a lot of problems to work their way out even before they’re back to a “decision” they can be proud of.
Pursuing good governance is a fundamental truth.
“Leadership has been enriched by the insights and actions of Councilor Dugyon,” a Barangay Burnay community leader said.
Be glad, Dugyon, son of former Mayor Joaquin Dugyon and who ran as an independent, is still around to help the people. As villagers will realize, he campaigned hard and well. His message reached the electorate in the town’s 20 barangays. These events have already happened.
Now, it is imperative that Dugyon brings forward a strategic approach to addressing the town’s problems.
Significant amount of funds should be allotted to poverty reduction, thus indicating the poor is a priority sector. Provision of good and dependable leadership as well as ensuring the timely flow of vital services is indispensable. In the same token, it helps set the foundation for a brighter tomorrow. In all this, Dugyon bears with him a commitment to prioritize the tourism sector. The town offers some destinations, that visitor arrival is dismal. For instance, Barangay Caba is a pleasant place, a setback from the main town’s poblacion villages.
For several years, Dugyon accomplished so much in the public and private sector. He is also an acknowledged leader in several socio-civic causes such as the Ifugao Chapter of the Philippine Red Cross and Don Bosco High School Family Council.
For the incoming SB, Councilor Dugyon undoubtedly possesses vast experiences to handle any of its 17 standing committees. He has keen knowledge of the challenges faced by various sectors. At the outgoing SB, Dugyon said as chair of the committee on laws and rules.
The enormous young human resources of Lagawe are really unbelievable, and the town will probably have more youthful officials in the barangay council. The next three years, Lagawe’s SB offers Councilor Dugyon “enormous opportunities” to help develop the young reach their full potentials as individuals. He can opt to initiate projects in upgrading competency that will allow the young’s talents to blossom. His charisma helped him gain support with this sector in the last polls. Think about it. The “Young Turks” are moving confidently into the future, facilitating, forging and fortifying progress in the countryside. The “Young Turks” bloc has massive potential to ensuring growth and development in the rural areas. It needs to send a strong signal that it is ready to take the challenge. **By Anthony A. Araos
