Somebody mentioned about birthday celebrants this month in our alumni group. Those born on the latter part of the month would be under the astrological sign Virgo, while those born from Aug. 1 to the 22nd would be under the sign Leo.
Leonians are usually fun to be with, courtesy of their lively spirit and positive attitude, They don’t shun the limelight. They revel in it. They are charismatic. It is the energy actors and actresses have or, in general, those in the entertainment world.
In society they can be the real stars of the community as leaders or politicians. When the lion growls, the whole forest is in obeisance. As the masses would admire and vote for politician candidates. Sadly, a lot of them exploit their subjects or rob them blind. In contrast, real Leo leaders have some benevolence in them, unlike the usual third world dictators who are nothing but tyrants only after their selfish interests.
For instance, while Hitler had a Mercedes Benz and he loved it very much, he was also thinking of the people. So he ordered the coming up of an affordable and reliable car, the people’s car. While the astrological sign of hitler was not Leo, that spark of benevolence in him was a Leo energy.
How about our historic Philippine dictator? He became the biggest thief in the world according to the Guinness book of records. And we had been talking of a Philippine people’s car but after more than a half century, we cannot even come up with anything reliable….. or anything cheap for that matter. Whatever few products we produce are not cheap and not reliable.
But we might be putting here the cart before the horse. Lest anybody will think that their astrological sign is the best one, every sign is the best sign for a person. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. Each is brilliant in a way or from a certain angle.
The astrological signs you see in predictive parts of newspapers and magazines, are misleading at best for any person has all the astrological energies in his or her system. Some parts though would be emphasized while in other signs these might be subdued or buried deep within.
A psychoanalyst in the UK who has a PhD on the subject once said, the astrological chart of a person in mapping out the human psyche is unparalleled. It is that complicated and to seriously study astrology would be like taking up a new college course.
But I digress.
Those who are born under the sign Virgo are in some ways the opposite of the Leos. While Leo people are gregarious and charismatic, Virgos can be shy and would shun the limelight. As a defense or as cover up, they can be critical and sarcastic. I am one.
Their positive side is their being analytical. Their energy and brains can be those of a scientist, but that can be a liability as they tend to over think particularly on what can negatively happen.
Another good side of them, is they can be finicky about health and hygiene.
Can they become leaders like the Leos? They are better off as the second in command. Better as corporate vice presidents instead of CEOs. In such positions, with their analytical brains and their attention to detail, they can be relied upon at the highest level. If he hands over to the chief a list of things to take care of before a high level meeting, the boss can feel confident the list is complete with all the details, and everything fact-checked and double checked.
In sum, our celebrants this month are two contrasting personalities. Well and good, because in the actual world a situation cannot be fully taken care of unless both sides of the coin are not properly considered and dealt with.**
