The Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO CAR) successfully confiscated over PhP15 million worth of illegal drugs and apprehended four drug personalities following separate marijuana eradication and buy-bust operations conducted from September 29 to October 5, 2025.
These operations led to the seizure of 75,250 fully grown marijuana plants and 4.79 grams of suspected shabu, with a combined total Standard Drug Price of PhP15,082,572.00. In addition, four drug personalities, listed as Street Level Individuals (SLIs), were arrested during the operations. The suspects are now facing charges for violations of Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO) led the operations, confiscating illegal drugs worth PhP15,067,000.00 and arresting two SLIs, while the Benguet PPO seized suspected shabu valued at PhP15,572.00 and apprehended two other SLIs.
PRO CAR Regional Director, PBGEN ERICSON D DILAG, attributes the success of these operations to the dedication of its personnel and the vital collaboration with local government units, community stakeholders, and partner agencies. PRO CAR remains committed to sustaining this momentum, ensuring the safety and well-being of the people in the Cordillera.
98-Day Weight Loss Challenge Program
Bringing together public service and physical wellness, the Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO), under the leadership of PCOL LAMBERT A SUERTE, Provincial Director, turned the 98-Day Weight Loss Challenge Program into a meaningful endeavor as personnel and participants joined forces in an intensified Search and Rescue (SAR) operation for missing BISOC trainee, Patrolman Aaron L Blas, on September 30, 2025, in Brgy. Ampucao, Itogon, Benguet.
A total of 106 individuals actively took part in the operation, including Benguet PPO organizers, a medical team from the Regional Medical and Dental Unit–CAR, and the 76 participants of the 98-Day Weight Loss Challenge.
The 98-Day Weight Loss Challenge, launched to promote discipline, fitness, and overall wellness among Benguet PPO personnel, requires participants to consistently lose weight throughout the duration of the program. Under the rules, failure to reduce weight in two consecutive weigh-ins results in sanctions, further motivating participants to stay committed to their fitness journey.
To maximize efficiency during the activity, the participants, spearheaded by PLTCOL BALDWIN F SOKOKEN, JR, Deputy Provincial Director for Administration of Benguet PPO, were divided into five groups and deployed along designated search routes to thoroughly scour the area for any signs, clues, or information that could aid in locating Patrolman Blas.
This initiative not only reinforced the ongoing SAR operations but also reflected the weight loss program’s dual purpose—combining physical fitness with purposeful service. With 63 days remaining before the final weigh-in, the participants traversed the terrain of Ampucao, testing their endurance while contributing to a mission of great significance.
The Benguet PPO emphasized that the activity embodies their commitment to integrating health and wellness with community service, proving that law enforcement’s dedication extends beyond routine duties. It also underscores their unwavering resolve to sustain and intensify efforts to find the missing BISOC trainee.
Patrolman Blas, who went missing during a land navigation exercise while undergoing BISOC training on July 14, 2025, remains the focus of relentless search operations. PRO CAR once again appeals to the public to provide any credible information that may help authorities determine his whereabouts and ensure his safe recovery. **
