TABUK CITY, Kalinga (PIA) — Cooperatives in Tabuk City are thriving, logging a total of P7.5 billion in combined assets as of the third quarter of 2025, according to the City Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (CCEDO).
As the country celebrates October as National Cooperative Month, the CCEDO reported that the city is now home to 134 registered cooperatives with a combined membership of 180,794 and 338 regular employees.
Of these cooperatives, three have already reached the billionaire status. These are the Provincial Engineering Office Personnel Multipurpose Cooperative (PEOMPC), Tabuk Multipurpose Cooperative (TAMPCO), and Tabuk Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative (TAFAMULCO).
The growth is attributed to strong and strategic leadership within the cooperatives, a unified cooperative movement focused on shared prosperity and community development, and the local government’s active support through provision of resources and training.
To improve oversight of cooperatives, the CCEDO launched on Oct. 6, 2025 the iCoop Hub 360, a web-based profiling and monitoring system designed to centralize and digitalize all data of cooperatives in the city.
The system aims to streamline the monitoring of growth, performance, and compliance of the city’s cooperatives, while also enhancing evidence-based planning and the delivery of technical assistance.
With its booming cooperative sector, the city is aiming to become the country’s first Cooperative City.
October is declared as National Cooperative Month through Republic Act 11502 to promote the principles and values of cooperatives and encourage cooperative movement for resilient and inclusive communities. **JDP/RGA-PIA CAR
