One of the core values that schools teach to children is honesty. Most especially if you attended one of the many Christian/catholic schools, then you would know this word is among their favorites. So many of college students now have seen or even became victims themselves of spanking in front of the class because they were caught lying. Some even had to wait outside the classroom until the teacher let them in. Humiliation was almost always the punishment when one of us lied.
What then happens to grown men who stole, lied and remain free? Consequences are supposed to be universal, something that visits anyone regardless of how extravagant their gates look or how expensive their suits are.
Should the students be the only ones who suffer from those old and strict teachers who had no qualms of pulling their students’ ears till they bled and humiliating them in front of class? Our politicians have done worse and received so much less punishment in return.
At some point in our school lives, there has been that scandal of someone having their lunch money stolen. The scandal would result in everyone’s bag being turned upside down, everyone lining up outside till the culprit was caught.
The thieves of billions have their bags clean and tidy still. So much more money is involved yet no bags have been run through, no one is punished, humiliated and paid the price.
Consequences are only for the common people, that is the overwhelming message anyone can see. **
