BAGUIO CITY – The Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Baguio announced that voters from other towns or provinces who wish to enlist or reactivate their records may now register in Baguio City or nearby La Trinidad, Benguet starting Oct. 21 under the “Register Anywhere Program” (RAP).
“They simply have to present valid identification cards to confirm their identity, and they can already register at the place where they intend to vote in the next election,” lawyer John Paul Martin, Baguio City election officer, said in a message to the Philippine News Agency on Monday.
Martin said Baguio and La Trinidad are among the areas offering RAP services, along with other highly urbanized cities and provincial capitals across the country.
The program aims to make registration more convenient by allowing voters to register where they currently reside without needing to travel to their original voting place.
However, Martin clarified that applications will still go through verification and approval. Registrants are encouraged to present proof of residence in their chosen voting area.
The seven-month registration period will also accommodate other transactions, including transfers of registration, correction of entries, issuance of voter’s certificates, and new voter registration.
Martin urged the public to take advantage of the early registration period and avoid the last-minute rush before the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections. **Liza Agoot
