28 Oct. 2025 – Several activities have been calendared for the months of October and November for the Ibagiw 2025: The 8th Baguio Creative Festival in the Summer Capital of the Philippines.
Baguio City institutionalized the annual conduct of its creative festival after its designation as a Creative City in the field of Crafts and Folk Arts by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2017 – the first in the Philippines to receive such distinction, thereby earning its place in the prestigious UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).
This year’s theme is “Traditions Rooted, Futures Routed,” with the Creative Baguio City Council (CBCC) spearheading the event pursuant to City Ordinance No. 46, series of 2021.
Events from Nov. 1-31, 2025 include “Whimsical Arbitraries,” a gallery exhibit at the Hokabrew, The Podium Hotel along Marcos Highway by the Pasakalye, Art Heals and Byaheros group of artists; and, the “Gastro X Art Creative” in various restaurants in the city by Mond Sakiwat.
Ibagiw opens Session Road as a temporary creative place for the “Creative Sundays” making a hub for the community to showcase their artistry, crafts and talents catering to various creative sectors.
“Artguinaldo,” will take place at the Porta Vaga Mall along Session Road from Nov. 1 to Dec. 30, 2025 showcasing a concept of gift-giving affordable art organized by Leonardo Aguinaldo.
The “Madeko Kito” artisans’ fair marketplace organized by the Baguio Arts and Crafts Collective, Inc. (BACCI) in partnership with the University of the Philippines Baguio and other institutions will be held at Camp John Hay from Nov. 7-24, 2025.
An open house gallery by Art Tibaldo called “Artworld and Media Museum Open House” is scheduled from Nov. 10-15, 2025 at Sumulong Street Corner, Upper Bonifacio.
Other activities, exhibits, food writing workshop, art in the parks, craft workshops and lectures, traditional dance showcases and sound summit aside from trade fairs featuring Cordilleran novelties were also being finalized as to dates and venues.
The Ibagiw Creative Festival Opening Gala will be at 5PM on Nov. 14 at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center while the Anido Night and closing ceremony will be on Nov. 23 at the same venue. **JM Samidan
